Thanks to the National Science Foundation grant enabling Dr. Arman Sargolzaei’s research in the development of a Vehicle-in-the-Loop (ViL) facility for testing connected and autonomous vehicles in a virtual world, which is known as digital twins. According to Dr. Sargolzaei, Vehicle-in-the-Loop implementation are a significant step toward achieving safe, realistic, and cost-efficient test procedures before migrating to road experimentations.
Thanks to the expertise of our partners at AutonomouStuff, IPG Carmaker, and Genesys, the research vehicle has been equipped with state-of-the-art equipment and sensors and converted into a development platform ready for research. The ability of the research vehicle to detect and react to simulated actors makes it an excellent platform for testing against cyberattacks in a safe and realistic environment.
