Dr. Sargolzaei presented during the faculty research seminar at Tennessee Tech on Nov 10th, 2020. The topic of the presentation is “Security of Networked Control Systems”.

Presented by Arman Sargolzaei Ph.D., Assistant Professor, Mechanical Engineering

Abstract: With a rapidly emerging growth in the application of Multi-Agent Systems (MASs), securing such systems has become a significant priority not only across the nation but also on a global scale. The interconnected characteristics of the MASs make them vulnerable to a range of cyber-attacks performed by opponents, thus fostering severe concerns about the security of these systems. A cyber or physical attack causes a degradation in the performance of the MASs and triggers malfunctioning of their normal operations. Even worse, significant failures could occur if cyber-attacks are launched to compromise the system’s multiple subsystems. Therefore, prevention, detection, and compensation of MASs are crucial. The lack of a theoretical framework for stability analysis and the absence of established analytical approaches to dynamically study the behavior of networks associated with MASs are among the barriers which are focused on this presentation. Furthermore, this presentation discusses algorithms and techniques which enable the MASs to detect and mitigate cyber-attacks in real-time.
